This mountain bike tour starts from Vejer in direction to San Ambrosio, where we will make our first stop in the Mill of Winds of the count. From this point get ready to enjoy an spectacular panoramic view of the hill of Patria, Santa Lucia, Conil de la Frontera and its beaches, the tower of Castilnovo and El Palmar beach.
After this first stop, we will start take the road to Buenavista. We will make a stop to see the panoramic views of Vejer de la Frontera and Paternilla countryside. Our next stop will be the Natural Park of La Breña.
Once we enter the Natural Park of the Breña, we turn aside to make a stop in one of the most beautiful places of the Park: The Dovecote (El Palomar) of La Breña . The dovecote was built in the eighteenth century and is considered one of the three biggest dovecotes in Europe. The breeding of pigeons in this region was very important, because they produced the so-called “palomina”, the excrements of these birds, that were used to fertilize existing crops such as hemp or tobacco.
After this stop we will ride our mountain bikes through the pine forest, crossing a village called San Ambrosio. In this small villaje we will visit an hermitage of the same name. This construction is an archaeological and architectural deposit that has been declared, Cultural Site. The Hermitage is one of the few examples of the early Christian basilicas of the seventh century found in the south of the Iberian peninsula.
After our visit to the Hermitage, we start downhill mountain biking in direction to Zahora. This vicinity, has wild beaches of fine and white sand and crystal clear waters. We ride along the promenade to reach the famous Trafalgar lighthouse.
Cape Trafalgar lighthouse is a monumental lighthouse of approximately 34 meters high. It has a white frustoconical tower that was raised in 1860 and is very close to the beacon tower of the same name.
The price includes: mountain bike, transport, protections (knee pads, elbow pads, helmet, gloves) and experienced guides.
This tour covers a distance of about 11km. And it lasts about 2 hours (including the stops). Return by vehicle to Vejer.
The difficulty of this route will depend on how fit you are. We can choose different routes to reach the points described in the tour.
